About my portraiture

These pieces were from the HSE Heroes campaign during Lockdown, where first line workers in the health service were celebrated with portraits by various artists.

Since the Covid era, and for many other reasons, many people are more comfortable sending video footage or photographs for a portrait commission. I like to work this way. Video footage of people in animated conversation can often show an unexpected idiosyncracy and quirks that are missed in a traditional, rigid ‘sitting’.
