About me

Collage of numerous figurative and portrait art pieces

I’m an artist based in Cork, focusing on figurative, surreal still life and abstract pieces. My work focuses on the human form as a narrative tool and the interconnected nature of the human race with the natural world. Nature plays an intrinsic part in our lives, whether we’re aware of it or not.

The garden with Lenten Rose, Bluebells, Rhododendron, Fern, Lily of the Valley, Japanese Acer, Red-stemmed Dogwood, early rose buds.

I find it interesting that in Japan, for example, time in the woods is recommended as a prescription for anxiety and stress. It suggests a real insight into the importance of being surrounded by the natural world and immersing yourself in the moment, rather than just running around in our concrete and steel constructions.

My garden is a haven in the city for me and I get so much inspiration from it. A visitor once described it as “a little treasure”. I feel the same way.

Another remarked, “You could fit two car parking spaces there”. I suppose it would have been a waste of time to point out that any financial benefit would immediately be outweighed by the absence of this little island of calm.

If there’s something you’d like to see more of, or if you have any requests, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

If you love flora and fauna as much as I do, feel free to share if you have any little oasis of calm or piece of wilderness you love to visit!
